The U.S. Championship is a 12-player round-robin tournament taking place online from 26-29 October 2020 on Lichess. The prize fund is $150,000, with Hikaru Nakamura the favourite to win a 6th US title and the $40,000 top prize.
Players receive 25 minutes for the entire game, plus a 5-second increment starting from move one. A tie for 1st place will be determined by two 10+2 rapid games and, if still tied, an Armageddon game where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black. Official website:

  • Where are the american

  • Ah yes, The Queen's Gambit is my favorite player

  • u can't go below the board hold my pawn

  • At 12:50, why can't you go Knight D4, to block the white queen's defense on the bishop?

  • Hey! Sorry been commenting a lot. Can anyone point me to a list of up coming chess tournys and fun stuff where I can cheer Magnus on live? Cheers fellow chess people!( at 7:40 its Rd1 to D6 or Qc2 to Qd3) That is annoying at the end with the Ra1C...they had no where near enough people supporting that attack. I get time but no shot every time. I love watching this games in slowmo cause I would have blundered 19 times but you explain it so well I feel like that clear blunder would have been a win.)

  • Stranger things season 4 will show below the board

  • It's A Wonder how he lost his rook like that.

  • What the “sorry about that” in almost every video, means? Is a joke, a code a prank? Anyone?

  • I still don’t see the difference between Nb2 and Nc3 from the lines you showed.

  • One of these players will resign, as there is nothing more to be done.

  • Awonder doesn't live very far from me.

  • guess you didn't see So coming,,

  • Which app is using for making this video?

  • It's funny. I didn find the move I just don't know why it's strong xd. Saw none of the actual reasoning behind the move

  • did anybody think the pictures were the same people at first?

  • The quote above is golden

  • #quote He who fears an isolated queen’s pawn should give up chess. -Siegbert Tarrasch

  • Fun Fact: Awonder has two brothers named Adream and Able

  • Jeffery gang lets go!

  • Love the quote, just watched the show yesterday :)

  • 12:50 “You can’t go below the board, to attack the bishop.” agadmator - 2020

  • In the history of chess, Fischer was the only player who could go below the board. Fact!

  • 😂" Knight can't go below the board"

  • I did find Rd6, but also considered a few other moves and wasn't sure which was best.

  • Does anyone know why fabi isnot playing in this toruntment

  • Jef played amazingly against wesley on day 3 ... maybe you might wanna check that game out if you havent yer. #suggestion.

  • there should be a rule to go below the board for any player once a year it would be hilarious

  • Nothing says America like Xiong vs Liang.

  • Hey I’m new to chess only playing consistently for about a year. I watch A TON of agadmators videos and I’m just wondering what does “at this move we have a new game mean”? Does it mean it’s never been in the data base before or??? Thank you for any responses.

  • Please cover more games from The Queen’s Gambit

  • below the board🤣 man your sense of humor is amazing 🤣🤣

  • This game is so complicated. I would've blundered every move after the opening. LOL.

  • This is the first game I have watched Agadmator "review" in months. I don't watch him. Agad insists on going off on "never played chess tangents"...why?? Just show us the game. IF you want to speculate on tangents do so after the review. I ignore Agad when he starts talking about what might have happened and wait until I hear him return to REAL chess. What would be wrong with a quick review of the REAL game prior to anything else?

  • Hii...this is link Jeffery Xiong beat

  • good one

  • #suggestion can you make a series on What makes "Grandmaster name" great

  • Photos are like fat vs slim

  • Hi I'm writing this comment on behalf of all the people in your telegram group. We need a moderator, unfortunately it seems impossible to get in touch with you there so i need to write this request on the youtube comment section. Lately we have experienced issues with a couple of trolls and people who pretended to be IMs selling courses, so now the group (which still counts about 500 people) is dying and everyone has stopped writing (except for a troll who everyday sends pictures of naked asian girls -.- ) So please, could you open telegram just once and and make a couple of people admins of the chat? This way we could at least remove those trolls and maybe bring back a good chess-themed group (sorry if there are some mistakes but i'm not a native english speaker)

  • just two chinese man play chess In US tournament, nothing to see here

  • at 12:50 "you can't play below the board"!!!! if happens then the NEWEST move ever! lol

  • What happened with age of caissa? When is the second episode coming? I would like to share with my friends (in the bar and library 😀)

  • "... cause it's super, super complicated, so you'd more easily understand..." I like this train of thought.

  • #suggestion agadmator vs Mikhail Tal

  • I love the way Jeffery plays.

  • Xiong and Liang, two Not so American surname playing in US tournament lol

  • 10:31 queen D1??

  • I need someone who plays chess with me in order to benefit from my mistakes. I am average in chess strength, but steady at my level. I need someone to play with to know me.

  • I stop playing chess years ago. Im starting from scratches now. One of my motivation in playing right now is imagining you analyzing my game. From 483, luckily I am now 997 🤣🤣🤣.

  • Can someone explain to me why knight to b2 is different? He explained everything but from what I see, the only different is either capturing the rook with rook or knight. I mean, both knight to b2/c3 covers d1 square and is protected by the bishop on g7, and in both moves black can always play rook captures on d1. Maybe I missed something.

    • @Ranadev Datta I see, that makes sense.

    • Nothing.. I post the same things... it seems key idea to capture rook with rook not with knight..

  • 14:49 “Awonder-ful victory for Jeffrey Xiong”

  • It's us championship but the contnders are..... You know what I mean😅

  • Looks like Chinese championship to me

  • How do you get, as a chess player, into the moment when you are able to see the knight to b3? I can't really calculate the moves, is that a natural gift or it just comes with an experience and years of playing?

  • a wonderful game by xiong indeed

  • Something weird with the pgn after move 39, lichess won't import it. Here's a corrected version: 1. Nf3 Nf6 2. d4 g6 3. Nbd2 d5 4. b4 Bg7 5. e3 O-O 6. Be2 c6 7. O-O a5 8. b5 c5 9. c3 Nbd7 10. a4 b6 11. Ba3 Bb7 12. c4 Rc8 13. Rc1 Re8 14. cxd5 Nxd5 15. dxc5 Nxc5 16. Bxc5 bxc5 17. Qb3 Nb6 18. Rfd1 Qc7 19. Nc4 Bd5 20. Nfd2 Red8 21. Qc2 e6 22. Nxa5 Ra8 23. Ndc4 Bxc4 24. Nxc4 Nxa4 25. Bf3 Rxd1+ 26. Rxd1 Ra7 27. Rd6 Nc3 28. b6 Ra1+ 29. Rd1 Nxd1 30. bxc7 Nxe3+ 31. Bd1 Nxc2 32. c8=Q+ Bf8 33. Qd8 Kg7 34. h4 Nd4 35. Ne3 Nf5 36. h5 Nxe3 37. fxe3 Ra6 38. Bb3 Rd6 39. Qg5 Rd7 40. Qe5+ Kg8 41. Bc4 Rd1+ 42. Kf2 Rc1 43. Qf4 Kg7 44. g4 Be7 45. Qe5+ Kg8 46. Qb8+ Kg7 47. Qb2+

  • Sorry about what?

  • Is Jeffery Chinese?

  • "And we have sorry about that"

  • We have, "Sorry about that", which we always do.

  • so without duduridu lets check out the game

  • Awonder... Fml, these parents really shouldn't be allowed to raise a kid

  • Didn't pause, took one look at the position, immediately said, "Rook d6." Love it when the intuition pays off.

  • 6:18 - "this is a bit of a problem for him. Not because he will lose material but because he will run into some problems." 12:48 - "he can't move off the board to attack." wow, I've been playing it wrong all these years lol j/k.

  • Imagine losing to a bongcloud Im joking, thought it was funny

  • The Queen's Gambit series disses the Caro-Kann? Really? Well there goes my high hopes for it. Will there ever be a decent Chess show/movie? They must not have consulted Hikaru like they should have.

  • Watching these games makes me realize how bad I suck at chess. The game is so cerebral. Most of these moves are effortless by these players, but like a foreign language to me. I enjoy these videos.

  • #suggestion game 1 US championship with wesley so. The 2 pawns vs bishop end game.

  • 11:36 For white, Queen to D7 with the followup of Queen to C8 is how to win

  • Long boring ads.

  • While you were locked up in the asylum I attempted to view other chess heads. I am so glad you are back because I cannot watch 4 ads in the middle of the voices. I gift you $25 on PayPal.

  • 12:50 lol😂😂😂 Thank you Agadmator for your enjoyable channel.

  • Jeffery didn't kill himself

  • Hikaru is off his game. Lost to Awonder Boy today!

  • I was startled by the weird arrow. Eek

  • "u can't go below the board" :) :)

  • This kid is really A Wonder

  • That was quite a game. A couple of missed opportunities.

  • @ 12:23 please what is wrong with black moving his Knight to D4 ? isn't that an option?

  • another #suggestion So vs Shanklin US Championship, where So wins while down material

  • 1:34 we have, “sorry about that”, g6...

  • Nihal sarin game from Karpov trophy#agadmator

  • I like this game. Liam hasen't live to the expectations . Most young great talents don't.

  • 12:18 why not just capture the queen since the bishop is pinned?

  • always waiting for that "sorry about that "line

  • So for you who like me needed an analysis board for this one. The point is that trading Nights is incredibly much in blacks favor in the resulting endgame. It's more of a positional difference than a concrete tactical one.

  • Agad i am expecting a full review of queen’s gambit

  • One of those rare comment sections with no hate comments or serious negative comments

  • ‘You can’t go below the board to attack the Bishop’ is a new line.

  • This is me laughing at the 18 clowns who down voted the legend's video

  • #suggestion So vs Swiercz today in US Championship.

  • I like that quote so much. Benny Watts was one of my favourite characters

  • First thought when I saw the young man was nakamaura Bongcloud

  • nihal is the best

  • Any games from Krush or Yip, please!

  • Fantastic!

  • No agadmator, we hope YOU enjoyed the game too!

  • 01:34 "We have sorry about that". Quite literally.

  • #suggestion Fischer v/s Bronstein 1958 Portoroz interzonal rd. 6

  • Pleade feel to keave a comment. Also i want to tekk you one of the symptins if covid 19 is bad spoellinh
